Youth and Family Concerts
Mead travels nationally and internationally to present concerts for students of all ages. Her choice of topics and authenticity in relating to the audience makes her a favorite among orchestras, students, and teachers. She holds long-term relationships with the RIAS Chamber Choir in Berlin, Munich Radio Orchestra, and the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, among others.
Meet the Maestro
Star power combined with a world-class educational initiative makes this a high profile program for participating schools. Spearheading this effort since 2010 as Consultant for Integrative Strategies to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Mead has developed a program that powerfully connects young people and their families with the music, musicians, and the Maestro!
School Workshops and Assemblies
Whether it be science, art, or history class, Monique breathes new life into the subject by infusing it with live music. Her goal is to inspire the love of learning and add beauty to the school day. Many of these workshops prepare students for upcoming performances, where they will recognize Monique and the music on stage.
Ensemble Coaching
Whether to prime an orchestra for a competition, polish stage presence, or improve technique and ensemble, Monique has reached hundreds of young instrumentalists to help them in their desire to make great music.
Artist-in-Residence
Mead’s versatility make her a natural choice for residencies, in which she performs assemblies, gives masterclasses, school workshops, and consults with administrators and educators to improve their programs. She has a long-standing partnership with the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival.
Grand Lobby Performances
Excellent middle and high school ensembles are given the opportunity to perform in the Grand Lobby of Heinz Hall prior to a concert of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Tour & Trivia
A brand new offering of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Mead developed this popular program for middle school and high school groups and ensembles. A private tour of Heinz Hall brings them to a backstage rehearsal room, where musicians engage them in a trivia game related to the orchestra and the concert program. Klassik for Kids
Monique first defined the Mead Model for audience development while developing Klassik for Kids, a pioneer project launched in Germany in 1997 and still active today.
