Mother Goose Meets Father Bach

Created for her own infants, this CD is a joyful way of promoting speech development infused with a natural sense of rhythm through rhyme. Children’s voices chant rhymes to music from Bach’s Orchestral Suites in a recording by the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields while Monique Mead (Mother Goose) and Gregory Lehane (Father Bach) have witty rhymed conversations about music and literary terms—a fun bonus for adult listeners. Makes an ideal gift for ages 0-5.

Preschool Workshops

The popularity of Mother Goose Meets Father Bach created a demand for workshops in preschools. Monique designed these to teach rhymes, songs, and movement that culminated in a 20-minute performance at school, a local bookstore, or a children’s museum. Workshops available upon request.

Music with the Pros

“Music at the highest level from the very beginning” is Mead’s motto for educating the very young. Concurrent with the infancy of her own children, she developed classes that connected toddlers to classical music through movement, stories, rhymes, and 5-minute concerts—complete with etiquette training and “bravos.” Each semester concluded with a 40-min. interactive concert featuring internationally renowned musicians.

Kindergarten Field Trips

As former conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Orchestra and current Artistic Director of the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic, Andrés Cárdenes collaborates with his wife, Monique in providing young children with the opportunity to visit a working orchestra rehearsal and interact with world-class soloists. There are even opportunities to sit on stage next to a musician! Ask about it.
